How would someone get the health connect app for home assistant to report the heart rate? Including if it turns to zero?
So if I click on stats In the ’
“Health connect to home assistant” app(4.1) it crashes and it still has not sent any heart rate data to my home assistant. Which is kinda what I was hoping to get more than any other data. Also it isn’t whoop it’s some Chinese thing, “fitcloudpro”
It may only send Average Heart Rate or something like that.
- Try turn all the heart sensors on in your Home Assistant Companion App. (Some will report unknown, depending on the device)
- Then see if you can get your heart rate data into Google Fit
- this is usually achievd by linking it to Health Connect
Check your Permission Setup:
- On Health Connect and Fit Cloud Pro
- Allow “Notifications” access
- Allow “Location” access
- Allow “Health Data” access
- Allow “Camera” access (for QR code scanning)
Check Notification Setup:
- Go to “Device” → “Notifications”
- Enable “Call Notifications”
- Enable “Message Notifications” (SMS, WhatsApp, etc.)
4. Select apps for notifications <in particular this one - Set “Do Not Disturb” hours
- Enable “Raise Wrist to Wake”
If you can get data into Google Fit (assuming you are running Android) then that data will carry over to the Home Assistant Companion App.
Lol why did I need Google fit. My bad. Okay that solves that. Thank you:)
I think Home Assistant Companion App uses the same pipeline as Google Fit. As long as Google Fit Sees the data, the Companion App either pulls it from Google Fit or possibly from Health Connect.
@jatgm1 You are welcome
So it sporadically sends data now and may not be sending it anymore. This is janky af. It technically kinda works sometimes. Which watch would work natively with home assistant to just populate the values? Is there a low budget wear os watch that has heart rate and other useful values that works with the companion app and works consistently? Something cheap, this was 50$. I’m looking for something cheap that fits the bill. The wear os ones I found are like 200+ dollars. Which is kinda crazy for what I need. Preferably something that doesn’t rely on a third party service and is natively compatible. But if there was a way to use the Bluetooth connection to just get the values that would be the best. Like if my phone could just get them from the device through ble or something and use the values. But it seems like only a wearos device would work natively without this sort of janky semi functional nonsense.
I didn’t think it would be so hard to make something send an alert if my heart had a problem when the technology is all here and available. Idk why it’s not a standard protocol or something.
It may be the device that is janky or just the way that the device reports data into Google Fit and then Home Assistant Companion App.
It may be Last Workout data rather than Background Data Monitoring.
The real problem is manufacturers wanting their own bespoke Apps and those values probably not quite fitting what Google wants.
Even my Whoop reports only so many types of data through to Google Fit, which only gives a limited amount of sensors via Home Assistant Companion App.
Using its own integration I have over 50 entities.
If it is health monitoring you are after I can recommend Whoop. It is subscription based and you get the device free. Basically the same cost of hardware from other manufacturers.
Actually monitors your trends and gives you advice, also produces printable doctors reports monthly, quarterly and annual. You can print and share with your doctor.
You break the device they send you a new one.
If I was to buy a watch it would probably be the Withings Smart Watch, unsure how that integrates.
Garmin may be another option. To my knowledge there is nothing that gives a live heart rate to the Home Assistant Companion App.
