Heating controls ideas

Sorry for the rubbish title - I’m after some ideas as to how people think i should configure HA’s controls for my new Nest thermostat. To give you some idea, my current thermostat is configured to make the heating come on for a period in the morning, around midday and again in the evening during the week, and the same at the weekend (although the on periods are longer). How would you go about controlling this with HA? I’ve experimented with some dropdowns and sliders but it just doesn’t feel user friendly. I’d ideally like the interface to give me the flexibility to configure something similar to my current schedule as it works well for us.

I’m really just after some inspiration so feel free to share screenshots/code etc. Thanks in advance!

I keep it very simple. I just have one automation to turn the heat to away_mode: off or something like that when my wife or I leave work in the afternoon, so the house is (kinda) warmed up by the time we get home.

Otherwise, I let the nest handle the scheduling and temperatures. That way, the “users” of my home (my wife and I) simply adjust the thermostat when we’re uncomfortable, but otherwise it handles turning on away mode and pre-heating in the morning and whatnot. I’ve found it’s pretty good at predicting what temperatures we’ll want when, and see no need to mess with that, or create confusion by having some sophisticated schedule.

Sure, I get that - but we like the way our current schedule works though so I’d rather replicate that.
