Heating system

Hi all. I’m planning a new heating system for my house, replacing a Tado V3+.

The new boiler is fully open-therm and I’ll have a smart radiator valve in each room.

Each room MUST be indipendent, so with it’s own schedule, heating temps, and so on.

I’m thinkign in buying the Plugwise system, with Adam HA as gateway and multiple Tom valves, one for each radiator. Plus an Emma as thermostat.

Seems to do everything I need (advance climate control based on weather forecast and current outside temp, geofencing, pre-heat before arrival, and so on), plus, probably the most important thing, is totally offline in local mode.

but I’m also thinking in using a vendor indipendent system, like multiple sonoff valves, Versatile Thermostat and so on.

Any suggestions ? My biggest conceirn is how to connect the softwarare thermostat to the opentherm boiler, keeping all opentherm features (like modulating and so on). Any idea ?

What i’ve seen is always working in on-off mode, talking to a thermostat that power on and power off the boiler, but as I have an opentherm boiler, i would like to use the modulating feature. There is no need to heat the water to 70°C if i just need to increase the room temp to 1°C

The Plugwise Adam supports OpenTherm, it should be able to provide the modulation function but from experience I know it will depend on the type of boiler you are having. On some older boilers the modulation does not work. Have a look here to find out if your boiler is supported: De aansluittabel van Plugwise | Plugwise
