I still have seven Zigbee-enabled smoke sensors from Heiman in my home. The Zigbee part is so bad, I never got it to work properly on my Zigbee network and HA.

I have five of Heiman smoke detectors as well and their connections work great in my setup (with ZBT-2 adapter as Zigbee Coordinator for ZHA), so issue you see is likley your setup.
