Hi leoXie,
What about this model - Smoke Fire Alarm HS2SA-5 zigbee version? I bought one a few weeks ago and I’m struggling to properly integrate it with my ZHA setup.
Hi leoXie,
What about this model - Smoke Fire Alarm HS2SA-5 zigbee version? I bought one a few weeks ago and I’m struggling to properly integrate it with my ZHA setup.
There is no Zigbee version listed for HS2SA-5 as it is not a ”smart” variant but only aupport interlinking between the same device type:
Think you bought the wrong model, and if so then you might as well forget about getting a “non-smart” model to Home Assistant and instead buy a different model:
It really needs to support either Matter or Zigbee. You might get WiFi models connecting to but then probably have to go via a cloud service(?).
No, there are both zigbee and wifi versions - have a look here - Smart Smoke Fire Alarm HS2SA-5 Series | Smart Smoke Sensor | Heiman Safety
I used a tuya quirk and managed to add it to ZHA, but it’s not exposing all possible entities, for example tamper detection. Firmware shows unknown status only and I’m not certain that the battery percentage entity is showing the actual battery level, or something else etc.
Ah, then you should really open a new issue with a “device support request” in the zha-device-handlers (a.k.a. zha-quirks) repository on GitHub to let people there know there is are issues and start a dialoge there with quirk developers about that specific device model. see:
FYI, there is a summery about needing to open such device support requests in ZHA documentation:
https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha#how-to-add-support-for-new-and-unsupported-devices
and
Noticed that there is at least currently two zha-quirks for other smoke sensors from Heiman there:
For reference, read this community guide that explains why custom ZHA Device Handlers (also known as ”quirks”) in the ZHA integration are sometimes needed for some Zigbee devices:
Regardless if you decide to develop the new “quirk” zha device handler yourself or not I recommend submit a “device support request” as a new issue to the ZHA Device Handlers project repository on GitHub (if there is not already an open issue for that device model) as that give others an opertunity to help out and give input/feedback on the best ways to move forwared with it.
PS: Be aware that the developement of new zha-quirks is a cummunity effort and there it is mosly volunteers that work on quirk code in there spare time as a hobby (while ZHA developers focus primarly on the underlying zha and zigpy framework to make the development of such zha-quirks easier).
Thanks CJB. It was wishful thinking! I had to instal interconnected alarms end of last year after a reno according to the new regs. Picked the Heiman as seemed best value for money. 8 or 9 and 2 heat sensors, They work well. Would like to have them integrated into HA. I didn’t want the interconnected bit of smoke alarms dependent on HA
These are available for sale from where exactly? Certainly not at the links provided…
Depends what country you’re in. I found the Matter/Thread variety on Amazon but not by model number.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0FVXPBSWT
I can confirm they work with HA and I added them using the direct method shown in this guide
The smoke alarm exposes battery level, detection state and controls to test it.
I thought this was an April Fools joke but it’s actually a real product posting on amazon… how can they possibly list something like this?
Grabbed a screenshot - notice the picture… it seems like it fell off a truck…:
Downloaded amazon picture:
Lol, just curious on how this happened ![]()
Edit: removed observation I must have hallucinated on to avoid causing confusion - rest above still applies.
…or fell under the truck! Not sure if your couriers are anything like some of the couriers here in the UK but maybe the picture is so that they can tell you what was delivered almost exactly matches the picture!
