On the HS1SA lineup, that’s a great question. We understand that the differences between HS1SA-E, HS1SA-EF, and HS1SA-M — especially in terms of roadmap and future capabilities — aren’t always very clear. We’re working on putting together a more structured overview that outlines both current differences and what each model is targeting moving forward. I’ll share more details with the community as soon as we have something concrete.
Regarding grouped alarm triggering: this is a very valuable use case, and we completely agree with your point about independence from Home Assistant. A direct interconnection between detectors (so that one alarm can trigger others even without a hub or power) is definitely the kind of safety-first feature we’re actively evaluating. While I can’t confirm specific implementation details just yet, this feedback is very much aligned with what we’re hearing from others as well.

I would like buy a Zigbee version but the last one : with the possibility to mute or to test the alarm from Home Assistant. What is the good version ? I saw on zigbee to mqtt, it should be HS1SA6EF : Heiman HS1SA-EF control via MQTT | Zigbee2MQTT . But where can I find it ? Or is it the HS1SA-E plus ? Thanks,

The new model with a plenty of exposes are named the HS1SA-E Plus, it’s been waiting for stock on Heiman Amazon Shop, it will be available in Europe, let me check when it’s available.
How to identify it?
Regarding the model: the model is a little bit confusing, after the beta test, we have updated the model in both of Z2M and ZHA, it will expose model name of HS1SA-E-PLUS in HA, that will makes it more clear to identify.
About the Beta samples, we will publish an OTA , it will be also updated to “HS1SA-E-PLUS”.
yeah, the new HS1SA-E-PLUS should be able to plug and play for both Z2M and ZHA integration, the firmware v2.2 has released on both of Z2M and ZHA, it has fixed those issues for beta samples.

I’ve been following your posts with great interest for quite some time now, as I also want to be able to trigger an alarm. Unfortunately, I bought an HS1SA-E too early, which doesn’t have this function. How can I find the new HS1SA-E Plus in the (german) Amazon Heiman store? I can only see the version HS1SA-E.
I agree these are great products, but I will offer a different opinion on interconnection. While an interconnection that doesn’t rely on Home Assistant would be good, I will say that grouped alarm based on Home Assistant would still be a great step forward.
Of course if there’s a fire in the room where Home Assistant is running the system may not react in time and the siren will only be sounding locally in that room. However I will be no worse off than I would be without any interconnection at all. With an automation in HA I have a chance that other sirens will sound and alert me to the danger sooner. Without ability to trigger the alarm on the devices remotely I am guaranteed to get nothing beyond the local alarm.
With fire hazards every second matters and I would rather take my chances with an automation in Home Assistant that says if one unit detects smoke then sound the siren on all my units, rather than just having fancy smoke detectors that report their battery level to HA without automation options.
I own three HS1SA-M and as far as I understand I can’t trigger the alarm on units that haven’t detected smoke with the current firmware? I would very much look forward to that feature in future firmware updates.
ok so i got 5 of HS1SA-E zigbee 3.0 models. manuf date 12/2025. are these old models, new models, upgradeable models? and most importantly, MUTE function via HA, dont want to climb on a 3.5 meter ceiling to push a button. or should I return them and get a new “plus” versions? quite confusing. there is no OTA, it says unsupported

it will have something missing from the HS1SA-E plus, but in order to satisfy the community at our best, we also rolled up a update for HS1SA-E with newer manufactured, probably 2022 afterward, but at this point, I would strongly recommend someone tests it with a date after 2024, the update will support:
remote test
remote temporary mute
smoke siren activation
identify for device
diagnostic information
but please note: it will consume more battery energy than it originally be, but it should still be capable for years.

To be honest, I can’t agree with you more, it’s better than nothing. To supports local interconnection at zigbee level is possible, but we don’t want to put this high risk feature in the formal firmware at this point, but we will try to add it.
Regarding the matter version, is this what you looking for? I added the siren and remote mute to it.
