Help for Hardware and sensors

Hi everybody,

I’m new in the big word Home Assistant and i want to explain my project for make good choice before buying hardware and many sensors.
I have read many topic before but the opinions are not really the same.

I have buy new house and i want temperature sensor, cameras, detector.

The first step is 10 x sensors temperature like xiaomi aqara ( the accuracy is good ? ), 2-4 x motion dectector xiaomi aqara, 2-4 light zigbee.

The second step is 2-4 camera maybe xiaomi, 2-4 x xiaomi aqara relay and some switch.

In the future, make alarm ( motion eye ?), maybe electricity consumption control, usb gsm dongle for send sms, and more i don’t know.

Hardware :

I think Pie 4 B 8 gb ram, with zigbee dongle ( i don’t know which one exactly because i need more than 20 sensors ).
But i have see in the other topic for many stuff the pie is not enough strength for motion eye or many sensor.

I would like advice before buying the equipment for black friday.

Thanks a lot, sorry for my bad english ( i’m french sorry )

Hi ,nobody can advise me ?

Thanks

If you want camera motion detection on the server, a pi is NOT what you want, just that may max out the cpu depending on the camera resolution and frame rate.

I try to buy as things for “smart” devices that are ethernet hardwired, preferably by POE ethernet… things that do not typically go on sale, even on a day like today.

I am using Lorex LNE8950AB cameras for non-critical monitoring, the quality is pretty good, but the HDR is sub par, and practically non-existent if you need anti-flicker. The night vision is excellent, and they have a microphone for audio recording. For security critical monitoring it is Axis cameras.

I do not use any zigbee and never will due to wifi interference, I may expand to z-wave in the future, everything I have now is wifi or 433mhz

Thanks for you reply :+1:
