This is my first voice device I am setting up. I followed the instructions on the website $13 voice assistant for Home Assistant - Home Assistant. It looks like it was set up fine but I hear nothing from it and it will not respond to my wake word. In the device settings I was able to get to a section where you click test for wake word, and play the voice you hear. When I click play, the light turns blue on the device but I hear nothing. Did I just get a bad unit or did I do something wrong in the configuration?
In the activity section of esp home I can see it turn on, immediately go to idle, and immediately says M5Stack Atom Echo fd5e94 Firmware turned off. Is that normal behavior?
it is set to automatic and is the IP address I use to manage my HA in web browsers. I’m not sure if I’m answering that correctly but that is the only thing I see under “local address”
@chairstacker interesting, did you have issues with the mic not responding to your wake word as well, or just issues with the volume like the person in the link said.
I had some issues for a little while - I think it was after I updated the devices with the 2025.9.x ESPHome version.
I had to go back to 2025.7.3 and they are still running on that version.
Couldn’t bring myself to try a newer version yet for these devices.
