Help with getting to configuration.yaml

hello guys, i am a complete newbie to hassio i have managed to install it onto the pi3 and i have home assistant which appears to be working when i go through the web based ui. i have downloaded samba and ssh server.
i can log into hassio with putty however that seems to be as far as i can get. i cannot see hassio amongst my network devices from my pc even though samba is running.

i am finding it hard to find good informative how too`s on this subject.
can anybody give me a point in the right direction please?
thanks, jamie.

p.s, here is the log from samba

ok. i can find hassio on my sons computer in netrwork places but not my own. i cannot figure this out.

If you can log in with Putty, then you’ll find the configuration files in /config

You should be able to find Hass.io either at \\hassio.local or \\192.168.0.x (using the IP that you used for Putty if you didn’t use hassio.local

i have now managed to get to .yaml by installing the configurator and i can access it via UI.
however, back to putty, i type /config into the command and it says access denied.

Why/what do you want to config in hass.io with ‘/config’?

i don`t, just going by what tinkerer said. bare with me, i am a little clueless but im getiing there bit by bit. kind of on my own too lol

You’d need to type cd /config - maybe worth having a look here at the basics of the Linux command line.

thank you!
