Is there a way to back out the migration to Z-wave JS UI? The JS UI version is completely unstable under 2025.6, and I’m wondering if there’s a way to back out without re-pairing every device (My entire house is Z-wave switches).
The latest core add-on and ZUI add-on both use the same version of Z-Wave JS (v15.6.0) and Z-Wave JS Server (3.0.2), so they are practically identical and there’s no reason to think switching would help.

You can try and follow this guide but in a reverse fashion if you really want to switch.
The version of HA Core has little relevance to how the add-on behaves, they are separate software, so an upgrade to 2025.6 is most likely not related. Maybe you upgraded the OS or the add-on instead. Restoring a backup might be the quickest way to resolve it if you’re sure it was an upgrade.
15.7.0 is latest
I can’t confirm what the addons use but I saw no complaints of major zwave issues in either 15.6.0 or 15.7.0
@djeuch
What issues are you having?
Just recently, I’m getting the folowing error:
Failed to perform the action switch/turn_off. Unable to set value 2-37-0-targetValue: zwave_error: Z-Wave error 202 - Failed to send the command after 1 attempts (ZW0202)
I’ve had this system like this for more than a year and it’s been extremely stable. The only other variable is an upgrade to 2025.6.2 (from 2025.5.3) but ti doesn’t feel related. I also had a Z-wave switch die on me which I just recently removed, but it still simply dies after somewhere between 10 and 60 minutes. I can’t detect the failure; all switches simply stop responding to Z-wave commands.
A restart of Home Assistant brings it back, so I’ve scheduled reboots of HA at 2 minutes after the hour to at least keep the house somewhat functional, but that’s not a good long term solution.
I just tried something else. If I unplug the Zooz 800 (ZST39 LR, firmware 1.60 - was 1.50 but tried upgrading it yesterday) and plug it back in, everything starts working again. Reloading the integration does not restore functionality though, so maybe it is something new with the HA code and the Zooz 800?
Any ideas? Happy to post logs of anything if that helps.
There’s a device in your network that is having difficulty communicating with controller causing it to become busy and lock up. Or some similar event.
Check stats for every device looking for high tx/rx commands dropped. You can find this in the device info section for each device (3 vertical dots next to configure >> statistics)
I actually found a similar post ( Zooz USB 800 LR ZST39, unresponsive controller, troubleshooting - Hardware - Home Assistant Community) that talked about too much traffic. I pulled up the Z-wave logs and saw one of the GE Switches “setting” something every second. Went to the switch itself and the blue led was flashing once a second as well. Air-gapped it for now and the log file is much quieter.
I am not ready to call it a success quite yet, but it feels right. I’ll report back in a couple hours. I don’t think it ever lasted more than an hour since this started.
Side note: this is the 2nd switch failure (GE / Honeywell In-Wall Paddle dimmers and switches) in 3 weeks… I’ve probably replaced around 4 others over the last 6 years (out of a total of around 50-60 total switches installed 7 years ago) so I’m hoping this isn’t a sign of things to come. Moving into this house I replaced all the light switches… not something I want to do again any time soon!
I’ve had a few of the GE/Jasco fail over the years. Wouldn’t say it’s a problem but definitely not great.
The failed units are usually running high load so maybe it’s just me exceeding device spec
It was a “failed” (still operating but obviously something wrong) switch causing excessive Z-Wave traffic. Problem solved. Thanks for all those who posted suggestions!
I have recently noticed my GE/Jasco switches fail frequently–a problem I have not had with my other brand switches. I have set up an automation to automatically ping the device when its status goes to “unavailable” or “unknown”. This seems to always bring it back online. Nonetheless, this problem seems to be most unique to that brand over my Zooz or Inovelli switches. I have two other switches in my garage that are Zooz that will go offline on occasion, but I believe that is more due to a combination of distance and they are installed in metal boxes.
