I have sauna and would like to know when it was turned on. I have a temperature sensor in the sauna and configured a trend sensor, but it look like it is not working as intended.
The trend sensor should be turned on, if the temperature within the sauna has risen by 5°C within the last 10 minutes. The temperature sensor is a Aqara Temperature sensor and it appears to update the temperature every 10-15 seconds, if it changed meaningfully. Right now it appears to turn on randomly, can someone please guide me towards a correct solution?
I switched to absolute temperature values to check whether it is on/off, but this is suboptimal due to different base values in summer and winter.
It would make it much easier for people to help if you supply details about your situation.
One of the most often misunderstood concept when using Trend is the requirements for the max_samples parameter. The max_samples parameter needs to be set to a large enough to store all the sensor values over the requested duration. You need to figure out how often (or at least how often on average) your sensor sends updated values to Home Assistant.
Thanks, already posted question with my specs elsewhere. Trends have so many options and I am not native English speaking so was hopingh to find an example with aqara configured to go by.
Will try your suggestion. The aqara - to my knowledge - reports temperature based on changes. If there are no changes then less updates compared to when they are.
