Hi everyone,
I’m considering integrating a HiLook by Hikvision PTZ-N2D400M-DE/14 PoE camera into Home Assistant and I’m looking for real-world feedback from anyone who has actually used this model (or a very similar HiLook/Hikvision camera).
My main question is whether PTZ control works reliably in Home Assistant via ONVIF, not just video streaming. I’m especially interested in the typical ONVIF pitfalls: profile tokens, PTZ service exposure, ContinuousMove vs AbsoluteMove / RelativeMove, preset handling, authentication issues, and whether Home Assistant detects the correct PTZ-capable profile/channel.
This model has a fixed overview lens plus a movable PT head. Can Home Assistant control and position the PT head independently, or does ONVIF expose the camera only as one combined unit? In practice, can you move the PT head to defined positions/presets from HA automations?
I’m also interested in whether the camera’s alarm functions, lights/illumination, and possible warning outputs can be controlled manually or automatically from Home Assistant. Does this work through ONVIF events/actions, the Hikvision integration, or only through Hikvision ISAPI/REST calls?
I’m not looking for “it should probably work” answers, but for confirmed setups or known limitations before buying the camera.
Thanks!
