Hi,
I’ll explain what do I have then go to the question or advice needed. I do hace home assistant green on ios, and I got zigbee2mqtt with mosquitto working nice ( most of the devices sonoff) and in the other hand I got lights philips working with their own app but in ha too.
Here is my question. I do have some automations working with sensors of sonoff, could I find a way to keep the light/lights on if I am stay longer on that room? What would you do?
That sounds like a job for a presence sensor (as opposed to a motion sensor). Here’s one video returned when searching on the differences.
I use the Sonoff SNZB-06P in two rooms, integrates with ZHA or Z2MQTT. Very basic (not in a bad way).
The Aqara FP2 is nice too - installed with the Aqara app into HomeKit (HK), then it is removed from HomeKit so the HA “HomeKit Devices” integration can see it and bring it into HA.
Then there’s the Everything Presence One and Everything Presence Lite sensors. Designed for HA, like the FP2 presence sensor it offers more than a single zone configuration (say, to trigger different lights/devices when in different locations of a room).
I purchased both presence (SNZB-06P) and PIR (SNZB-03P) from Sonoff.
Frankly I treat them the same except the 06 is more sensitive (hence also more likely to trigger false alarms).
I haven’t noticed a significant different in latency to trigger, when someone enters the room.
Due to the increased sensitivity the 06 has a bit better range, however on the edge of it’s range it behaves much the same as the 03 in that small movements are not detected, but large movements are.
All that said, I would recommend you buy both (get a spare or two) that way you can swap them out (or run two together) to figure out which one works best for which use case (I ended up swapping mine around).
Do you mean if you stay longer in the room without moving?
If not, even a small movement will trigger the motion sensor again so the lights will stay on. There’s a short automation to handle it here:
