Home Assistance in VM, for micro-datacenter

Hello!, Home Assistance is a very nice opensource project! I wonder why not all features are possible when installing Home Assistance in a VM or a container. On this page is stated, that add-ons are not possible within a container: Generic x86-64 - Home Assistant. Personally I like the idea of a micro-data-center for decentral self-soevereign internet, like opensource ZeroOS from Threefold. https://threefold.io/, with on top Home Assistance in a VM. In order to develop a nice proposition for this ideam (a micro datacenter with IoT capabilities) it is better to offer 1 node (computer) than 2 nodes (one for Threefold/ZeroOs and a seperate node for Home Assistance. This is because the meter cupboard is small en full of devices. Any suggestions/ ideas? Is there a possibility, to get the full features of Home Assistance in a VM/container?

The bottom-line is that addons are containers, and you cannot run containers inside containres

VM and Container has full capabilities

Addon only exist for HAOS but addons are just the normally available software packaged for easy USA and management by HA. If you are not using HAOS you must simply manually install the services docker container.

For example, zwavejsui is available as an addon. If you have HA installed in docker and want zwave jsui the steps are:
-setup and run zwavejsui docker container
-connect zwavejsui to HA using the zwave integration

It’s not difficult, HAOS and addons just simplify this and make in manageable from with HA’s UI

Many people run HAOS within a VM
