Home Assistant 2021.10.5 crashing

I am running Home Assistant 2021.0.5 on a RPI4 4GB with a 500GB SSD (no SC Card). Lately it has crashed several times and I can’t figure out what is causing it. Below is the Core log I was able to grab this morning. It would appear that the system crashed just after midnight.

I see lots of LIFX related errors (I wish I knew how to get rid of those as the clutter everything, but bulbs appear to work just fine).

Just before the gap in the logs there is an error I can’t decipher.

I am about to upgrade to 2021.10.6 but I don’t see anything in the release notes that may be related to my issue. Anyone see what the issue is?

EDIT: I think I was wrong… it seems like it crashed this morning according to system monitor on Grafana so I have no logs for that moment, or I have no idea how to get them.

EDIT2: Looking at a temperature trend, I saw that the last data point was at sunrise so I am guessing that something I am doing at sunrise is causing it to crash. Most of what I do is now in Node Red so I’ll hunt there but I am not aware of any NR logs. Are there any?

Same issue here.
HA crashes 2 times, one time somewhere in the middle of the night, and one time early in the morning.
I have no idea how to get a log file, so I don’t know why it was crashing.
This morning I make the upgrade to 2021.10.6 and will see if it fixed the crashes.

@complex1 There may be better, longer logs somewhere but the ones I use are found under Supervisor / System and then select the Log Provider you need. The logs pasted above are from Core.

If you create a GitHub issue and tag me, I will take a look.

@amelchio A lot has changed since I posted above. I moved from an RPI4 to a Proxmox VM on a Lenovo M920q Tiny Desktop PC (i7-8700T / 32GB RAM / 1TB SSD) that for now is pretty much only running HA. The LIFX related logs have decreased significantly but that may be due to another things I did…

  1. I had referenced the “broadcast” IP in my configuration file for about 30 IPs that are reserved for LIFX even though I only have about 20 LIFX bulbs. I commented out the IPs that are not active in case that was causing issues. My bulbs are on a separate VLAN which is why I needed to add the list otherwise HA will not find them.

  2. I had 3 broken LIFX bulbs that I could not get rid of in the integration (That REALLY needs to be fixed!!!) so I took the brute force approach of deleting them from the device file in the config folder. I wonder whether those bulb entries were causing HA to complain.

  3. I am still terrible at VLAN routing but I tried to make a few changes on my Unifi’s settings to favor LIFX operation. I really need to brush up on this as I am quite certain I have no clue what I was doing

  4. I still have a couple annoying LIFX Z led strips that keep dropping from the wifi network even though they have 3 APs in close proximity (one on each side and one on floor above… wooden houses…). I even tried to lock it to the best AP but it just keeps coming and going. This is causing LIFX errors but at least it references the bulbs. Example:

2021-10-21 09:15:36 WARNING (MainThread) [homeassistant.components.light] Updating lifx light took longer than the scheduled update interval 0:00:10
2021-10-21 09:15:36 WARNING (MainThread) [homeassistant.helpers.entity] Update of light.kitchen_counter_middle_light is taking over 10 seconds

Thanks for offering to help! If the errors pop back up now on this new system, I will create an issue.

Oh … that sounds more like network configuration issues so probably keep it here in the forum after all

You can still tag me if you do create a new thread.
