After updating to Home Assistant 2026.9.0, I started experiencing a connection issue both in the Companion App and when accessing Home Assistant through a web browser.
I repeatedly got the following message:
Could not load Home Assistant. Please refresh the page, and clear your browser cache if the problem persists. Unable to connect to Home Assistant. Retrying in XX seconds…
I tried several troubleshooting steps, including clearing the browser cache and browsing data, clearing the Companion App data, and completely uninstalling and reinstalling the Companion App. However, the problem persisted.
Sometimes I was able to reach the Home Assistant login page, but after logging in, the same error would appear again. After refreshing the page several times, I could occasionally get into Home Assistant, but the issue would return.
The only solution that worked was restoring a backup from Home Assistant 2026.8.3. After restoring the 2026.8.3 backup, the problem disappeared completely, both in the Companion App and in the web browser.
I restored to 26.8.3 also and all was ok for 15 hours ..but last few hours counters are counting up for no reason .. l have now restored again and losing time .. no sign of patch update for 26.9?
Based on a post on Github, I’ve commented out the following 2 lines in my configuration.yaml file and this allows me to log in on both Windows (Chrome) and Android.
Hi, same issue with the same message here, but after a few seconds I can access to Home Assistant.
When I access home assistant, it seems slower than usual and some icons doesn’t load every time.
I’m running HAOS Baremetal on Raspberry Pi 5 4GB
I’ve now rolled back to 2026.8.3. I’m running HAOS in a Proxmox VM. In addition to the other 2026.9.0 issues, when I access HA via a custom domain (using a Cloudflared tunnel), I receive the “Error while loading page integrations” message when I try to access Settings - Devices & services. This doesn’t happen with I access HA via IP address on my LAN.
Same here. The first time I open the companion app, it shows this error page in the browser. If I open the app again immediately afterward, it works fine.
