I’ve noticed that the Home Assistant mobile app is consuming a lot of mobile data, even in the background. Sometimes it uses hundreds of megabytes per day.
Any ideas on how to reduce data usage? Are there any settings to tweak?

That sounds like a lot, unless you have video streams running.
I suspect that even if you aren’t watching the video, it’s still streaming. Try turning the cameras off for a day.
There are similar topics which reference this issue. Seems to occur if you have cameras on your main (default) view. Basically, they will keep streaming even if your app is in the background.
Move your camera cards to a separate view. I seem to recall this is the currently-suggested workaround around the issue. Sorry, but I don’t have handy links to the other threads, but a search should point you to them.
And you can have buttons on that other new view that has the camera streams - to disable/enable them as well. (Possibly even do that automatically depending upon your location or whether or not that view is being displayed)
