Sure? Now with Spotify free, you can also make use of Spotify connect… That changed about half year ago…

I know some amplifiers got an API uodate, so you could also use a free account to use Spotify connect

Hi,
Is there anyway to use alsamixer with this addon?
I can’t modify the spotify_asound file because the addon always overwrite them,and i have to use the “alsamixer sound card” not the hardware card directly.
“The equalization works only when the application uses the default output device from asound.conf. Applications that are configured to use the hardware device directly (you might see “hw:0” or similar in the command line options or in the configuration file) won’t use the equalization plugin.”

same question here: How can I send a command to the addon from hass.io (e.g. via MQTT: Start - Stop - Next Song - Play specific song, …)

I’d like to wake up to my favorite spotify playlist…

Do you mean that I need to open Spotify on another device in order to control it? That’s how I do it now, but the added value is limited.
I’d rather have an automation set up in hass.io, so that for example when I come home, the music turns on, when I leave the house it turns off, etc.
If the Spotify Integration is a different application/addon, I’d be thankful for a link.

Hey @frenck,

thanks for this awesome add-on. It’s working perfectly. Only one thing though:

When I try to replace my spotify credentials in the config with !secret spotify_username and !secret spotify_password, the editor does not let me save the config, since it an “Invalid YAML”.

I suppose this could be an issue with the editor itself and not your add-on. But did anyone else also have this problem and is there potentially a workaround?

Hi @frenck thanks for the great work on this and so many other awesome add-ons. Is it possible to add multiple accounts to the Spotify integration? We use 2 accounts at home and I’d like to add both.

Hi @frenck,
It looks that this plugin is what I need in my new HA system based on RPi4 and hass.io image.
The system is running already but when I select Spotify Add-on and click on INSTALL after some 20-30 seconds I am getting the red “Failed to install addon, [object Object]” error:

I cannot find anything in the normal logs related to this installation.
Any idea what I am possibly doing wrong or what need to do to install it ?

UPDATE 2h later.
It seems now that Add-on is installed (however I did not do anything) and I am able to put login/passwords and select Input and Output. However when I click on START nothing happens. Restart of hassio does not change anything.

UPDATE next day.
Idea came to me to uninstall and install again. And this time it worked with not errors and I was able to play music from HA RPi4 !

But what was initial problem I do not now.

Hi all, sorry maybe for the dumm question, but I installed the addon on my RP. I’ve configured with login and pwd the conf part, and if I start, in the logs, everything is ok.
The problem is now that I cannot understand how to add the player … could you give me some hints pls?

Hi SKAL.
There is no player as such in this case. Once you have this addon running you need to use Spotify on any other device (your phone, tablet, computer, …) with the same user/password and once its running you will have an option to select “available devices” (in case of Windows app it is next to volume control). Once you click on it you will be able to select “hass.io” (or another name which you can enter in Add-on configuration file).
After you select it it, musisc you select will be played on the Add-on.
