first of all thank you for the addon, I am still learning HASS and now have a new project, LMS and squeezelite for an multi audio system.
I’ve successfully installed this Squeezelite player AddOn on a Raspberry Pi 5 running Home Assistant OS. The add-on runs fine, and the player is recognized by Logitech Media Server (LMS).
However, I don’t see any audio output via my AMP (also tested with a DAC). There’s no output option visible in Settings, I turned protected mode off. I can’t see a hint that the hardware (AMP or DAC) is mentioned in the logs.
What am I doing wrong, could anyone guide me in the right direction? I did some cross reading here, is it the linux kernel issue?
does HAOS have support for your sound hardware? Its probably hidden the option under not used and your HA user will need to be enabled for advanced features. Does the output device occur in the addon logs at all at start-up
hi @pssc,
i just tested a complete migration away from supervised. As expected, the LMS addon did not migrate successfully. Is the toggle “migrate_config” what you are hinting at with the integral addon config space and shoud i toggle it before taking a backup an importing it into my new HAOS instance?
my current lms addon version is 9.0.2.0
I did a complete backup, including settings, files and add-ons, using the homeassistant backup tools. Upon restoring them on a new instance everything was working, except the LMS-add-on.
In theory it should have worked as long a the /config space was restored unless you have migrated to the internal config in which case just the addon backup would be enough
looks like it reset the the ownership/permissions in /config the add-on can reset toggle the add-on option to reset and relaunch the add-on… see if that fixes…
@vajdum i suspect that might not be working to reset the permissions. Head over to github and log an issue and lets have a look at your addon startup log witrh that option set in full over there to reduce the support spam here. I can then advise…
Hi all,
in order to use the kidsplay plugin I had to enable username and password in the LMS security settings.
This led to the Lyrion integration not able to connect to the server anymore…as expected.
But how can I add a username and password retrospectively? I did not see any “reconfigure” option that would allow this.
So I tried to delete the whole integration but it seems that HA does not like this. As soon as I try to delete the integration HA looses connection and reboots (I think). It takes about 5 minutes until the system is back, Lyrion still not removed.
The easiest would be to add the credentials somewhere…but where?
You’ve posted this in the LMS addon thread - did you mean to? The Squeezebox integration is different - just checking what you mean as there isn’t a “lyrion” integration - it’s called Squeezebox - the core team don’t want to change it. The HA reboot behaviour sounds more like removing an addin.
Your core question though - there isn’t a reconfigure - you just need to delete and re-add the config entry (not the intergration)
Hi psketch,
Sorry, you are right. I confused addons and integration here.
And I indeed was referring to the integration. And since these days it has the Lyrion name in the the label called it that
@Merc You’re doing the right thing to delete the config entry. In general, once you’ve deleted the config and re-add it, HA will recreate the same entities based on the mac address of the players - so deleting and re-adding won’t affect your automations etc…
However, what you’re seeing is not normal - it sounds like something’s corrupt in HA somewhere. There’s no way deleting a config entry should crash HA. I’d suggest you post a question on the support discord perhaps.
I have home assistant setup on a m3 studio via UTM. I have the Lyrion Music Server running on the Mac. Not in the HA VM. I have Home Assistant Community Add-on: Squeezelite player installed in the HA VM.
I can play my music in home assistant on using the Home Assistant Community Add-on: Squeezelite player and the audio comes out of the mac speakers. I have a Voice Assistant Preview edition and voice assistant setup and working I have a external speaker attached to it. I can talk to it and it responds on that speaker. I can have it play music over that speaker using the default music player in HA.
If I have the voice assistant play music on the Home Assistant Community Add-on: Squeezelite player it comes out of my mac not the speaker attached to the preview edition.
How do I get it to stop sending music to the mac. As I said before it will play music on the speaker attached to the preview addition if i use the default player not the Home Assistant Community Add-on: Squeezelite player.
@Idahome HAVPE is not a speaker attached to the MAC, so squeezelite will not work neither is HAVPE a native squeezebox player, so you could stream from LMS with it but not use as a native player, or use a PI with the input jack or if the HAVPE supports DNLA use that route…
