Hi, starting in late 2026, all landlords will be required to have wireless water and radiator meters installed.
Which ones would you recommend?
I’m currently using Homematic IP, but they don’t offer water or heating meters.
Ideally, they should all be part of the same system and integrate with Home Assistant so that tenants can receive their readings on a monthly basis.
Do you have any tips?
DIY systems don’t meet the regulatory requirements. Tenants can deduct 3% of the costs or even completely argue the bill.
As a landlord use of certified standardized meters is mandatory. For your own sake use official solutions for this. When you want to have the data in HA as well the only thing you can do is select a model that integrates with HA as well or is in some way readable.
For my analog water meter I used AI on the edge successfully. But it requires a lot of calibration and sometime has mistakes – nothing you would want to run in a business case.
