Home Assistant/ Connectivity or Homey Pro

Hello HA Community,

I don’t use HA, actually i use My Alexa and Smartthings to Controll, lights, power sockets, thermostats and so on, most on Wifi connection.
I now build my house with my family and want to get away from cloud to local automation and install also alarm system with zigbee sensors or z-wave thermostats and all the other things that makes the house smarter.

Ive been searching for an assistant that has wode range of connectivity, at least i read about HA and Homey Pro.

Now, i baught a homey pro and start trying a bit with connections to smart devices, i recognized lots of things wont be able to connect.

Now my question to the Community her is:

If i use home assistant as control system, is it easy to get connectivity, i want to have wlan, Bluetooth, zigbee and z-wave / matter ?
Because of different things i use i need that range of connectivity.

If yes, id like to get a small device to run HA on it, how about thos small HA green / yellow, which one to buy and how to add the connectivity i need ?

I know ive to invest some more € for it but i dont care, i wanna get a stable an good working assistand that even allows me to connect cheaper china smart devices like tuya compatible devices ?

I don’t know about coding, but at least i understand what to do and how to change configs by follwoing Ho-Tos instructions, i flashed my Vu× boxes and configured them so i know a bit about that part.

What do you think would be the best choice for me ?

Looking forward for your answers.

Thx

wlan or wifi is actually just ethernet and a transportation protocol. HA do not care if it is a wired or wireless ethernet, but you need to know what communication protocol your ethernet devices use in order to see if there is an integration available.

Bluetooth is supported both with a single stick and often also as onboard devices in your server hardware. On top of that HA also support Bluetooth proxies, which are small cheap single-computer boards that can be easily flashed with ESPHome and then placed in strategic points.
These boards will capture the Bluetooth signals and then forward them to HA and HA will then read them as signals coming in on a locally connected USB stick.

Zigbee, Z.wave, Matter over Thread and Matter over Ethernet are open protocols and supported with a radio device, etiher as an ethernet device or as an USB stick.
There are sticks that can run in multiprotocol mode for Zigbee and Matter over Thread, but that setup does not work that well, so go for a stick for each protocol (It is usually just a question about flashing another firmware on it).

HA Green/Yellow is a decent starter, but I feel the hardware design has limitations that will be experienced way too quickly when your HA setup grows.
Especially power issues where the power supply port is unable to receive enough power to powe all the connected devices, like USB devices, and then also limitations with storage medias.
There are many that go for a mini computer and a mini PC is often a better investment in the longer run. Get one with minimum 8Gb ram and preferably no more than 5 years of age. Maybe an used one.

When coming to Tuya, then avoid the WiFi parts. As said earlier the WiFi is just the transportation protocol. The important part is the communication protocol and that is proprietary with Tuya. There is an integration, but it is often a fight to get it to work.
Tuya Zigbee is better.
