Home assistant does not start webinterface, or once, but not after restart

Hi there,

I have Home Assistant running on Proxmox 9.2.20 in a VM. Unfortunately, even my older backups will no longer start properly.

The CLI starts, and the web interface also becomes available, but then I get the “Connection lost. Reconnecting…” message. Home Assistant/HAOS never fully starts again. This also happens when I restore older backups that previously worked.

I also tried running the VM on another machine with Proxmox 9.2.11. In that setup, HAOS started successfully once, but after restarting the VM, I experienced exactly the same issue again.

I then created a completely new HAOS installation, and that works as expected.

At this point, I’m completely out of ideas. Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this or what I should check next?

Hi, have you checked the console from your HA VM and what do you see there?
Did you compare the VM settings of both instances?

Are you running an older version of HA then the one you have installed from scratch?
I have not switched to Proxmox v9 yet so I don’t know what has changed in the recent version what could cause this.

From the VM console you could try ha core restart --safe-mode
