Home Assistant Inaccessible

Hi,
Thanks for allowing me to join.

I have just tried to see if my topic is in the existing posts, but so far I have been unable to see anything matching my problem, thus seeking help please.

I just used my windows 11 computer, followed this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kX4t6D8v0GE on how to setup.

It all went perfectly, I then went to lunch, and shut down my machine beforehand.

On return, I tried to run my Home Assistant again, by clicking the Oracle VirtualBox icon on my desktop

When I do so,Oracle VirtualBox manager opens, however on the left side column, it says “HomeAssistant” inaccessible, with this data
Runtime error opening ‘C:\Users\Admin\Desktop\HA$$VM\HomeAssistant\HomeAssistant.vbox’ for reading VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND (File not found.).
D:\tinderboxa\win-7.1\src\VBox\Main\src-server\MachineImpl.cpp[984] (long __cdecl Machine::i_registeredInit(void)).

Component:

Interface:

If I also run the IP address of 192.168. x.xxx:8123 in a browser(which worked before) I then get the message "This site can’t be reached
192.168.5.xxx took too long to respond.

Perhaps I closed the application in the wrong manner and upset things?

I also tried a google search, on the correct manner to open Home Assistant on a windows machine, once installed, but again I could not find the correct process, only help guides on how to install via VirtualBox. Perhaps I am not starting correctly?

As a newbie, I am lost…can anyone assist me please?

THANK YOU

Well is this file there?

This is virtualbox complaining your VM is missing there’s nothing HA can do to help you need to figure out what happened to your VM.

Thanks for your reply…I looked here and cannot see it. Will this mean I must do the whole installation again please?

Thanks

According to this, you must search your desktop

This as well…

The VM image is missing on that screenshot.

Sorry, I think you meant this one…

Normally the .vbox file and the VM image are in the same folder. Should be possible to repair Virtualbox.

Thanks…this is how they all formed when following the tutorial…should some files be placed elesewhere…how should they all be please?

Thanks

Does this make more sense to see what I have?

I gave up and uninstalled and did it all again.

I now have it going again, but cannot figure out how to properly shut down Home Assistant?

I have read to go to main menu/system/look for power button top right.
I found that , but when I press it I get these buttons, but none seems to do anything.

I want to close it down and keep working on the pc, but cannot do so?

Help please

Hi, welcome to the forum!

Be aware that using YT videos is quite often discouraged by long-time HA users since they might be incorrect due to being outdated.
The one you are referring to is uploaded 11 months ago!

Maybe your issue is the result of that…

Also, using Windows + a virtualization software (extra layer) to run HA is one of the worst combo’s.
It might be useful to do some testing, getting acquainted but for a server that you want to be available 24/7 and on which you have automated your house, it’s not a good idea.
