Hello, I have major problem with HAV:PE connection. It is connected to my livingroom ruoter (it have schedule to reset every week for software cleanup). After reboot HAV returns to disconnected state and I need to reconnect in manually (remove HAV:PE integratrion and start process all over again). Why device does not reconnect to WiFi? Will it be fixed in upcoming update?
Having the same problem here.
One of the causes is the wifi AP switching channels automatically.
Even if you solve this by forcing the 2.4GHz to 1 channel though, there are other reasons why Wifi disconnections happen, and you wind up with the red ring on the HAVPE.
Does the ESP32 have any known wifi issues? Some weird power saving or sleep mode maybe?
This is not good, when you rely on these things to always be connected.
I have the same problem here. I was ok and I didn’t make any settings on my network. Now if more “Unavailable” than not.
Coulod it be some HAPE hardware issue? I am considering RMA.
Same here. It becomes unavailable every 30 mins or so, sometimes less, making it very unpredictable. Have you found any solution besides the wifi channel? I assume there are other disadvantages on having a fixed channel.
My 5 units have this issue and have since the beginning. Anyone find a reliable workaround? Tried fiddling with my firewalla AP7s but no dice.
Just got a PE 2 days ago, frequent Wifi disconnects, no other device on the network has any issues and I have over 50 other clients, connected to a Ubiquiti U7 Pro XGS on a dedicated 2.4ghz ssid
I’m having the same issue as well.
- HOAS: 10.2.2025, running on a NUC
- VoicePE, version 25.10.0
I used to run a voice assistant on an ESP32-S3-Box3, and never had these issues. I really wanted this VoicePE to work, but it’s just not proving to be as refined as the ESP32-S3-Box3 in terms of stability and audio recognition. I will try to give it a dedicated IP in my router to see if that helps with the frequent disconnects.
Following up on my post…
I made two changes in my router that appears to have made a difference.
- Manually set the IP for the HA Voice PE to a static address, and
- Turn off a “smart connect” feature in my router’s WiFi settings.
It’s been almost two days and historically the HA Voice PE would have disconnected a few times by now - but that hasn’t happened. I’d love to say that I have concrete evidence this solved the problem, but I don’t. It seems to have worked so far though.
What brand router is it and what is smart connect actually toggling? Knowing the brand will help.
My apologies for not adding that. It’s an ASUS ZenWiFi AX, dual unit in mesh configuration with a wired 2.5G backhaul. As I mentioned, I have no concrete reason why this worked, but even as I type now the unit has remained connected without issue ever since. Perhaps the solution was unique to my situation. “Smart Connect” appears to be an ASUS feature that automatically connects devices to the WiFi band that best suits the device’s needs at the time, given some set of conditions. Now, I have two different SSID names for each of my bands (2.4G and 5G) - so there’s no reason this should have worked given the Home Assistant PE only had the 2.4G SSID programmed. But I’m guessing the router may have periodically handed the PE off to the other band and the PE couldn’t connect and instead just dropped.
Interesting I am about to set three up in my home on a Unify Dream Wall. See how I go.
