Home assistant voice preview external jack interference with leds active

When I am using my Home Assistance Voice Preview Edition on the external 3.5mm jack, whenever the LED’s are active, I’m picking up a high pitched hum. No LED’s, no hum.

Anyone else experiencing this please?

EDIT - I’ve tried different USB power cables, different audio cables, different amplifiers, distancing the unit from other potential electronic interfearance sources… all sorts. I’ve come to the conclusion that the source is when the LED’s are active.

Do you have a clip-on ferrite core you can slap on the 3.5mm cable going to the jack? If you can get one, you could try that (see if you can borrow one before buying, no idea if it’ll work for you).

I don’t know what’s causing it but yes I have it really badly on the two I have connected to external speakers. Lights come on and a big electric whine… It’s very pronounced on my Denon AVR.

That said, a 3.5mm inline ground loop isolator knocks it right out.

Thanks. I’ve bought some and I’ll see if it works for me. It would be great if it does!

Remember that ferrit cores should have the cables looped through twice to get optimal removal of noise.
