Home Assistant working with Claude

I hope someone can point me in the right direction?"How do I connect Claude Desktop to Home Assistant MCP using a long-lived access token on Windows?"

This is not a chatbot.
Claude desktop itself has a fairly complete answer, so:

What did you try?
What is blocking you?

I am still uncomfortable allowing AI into my ecosystem. I interact with it in a separate window. Last time I checked, there was no way from keeping claude out of secrets.yaml (unless it is stored somewhere other than the normally expected place and how do you do that)?

The way a Claude style agent interacts is at file level.

There is Literally NOTHING in your install it cannot access if you do this. It is in the stated design and no you cannot change it.

If you don't want that you don't want Claude or Codex accessing your install in this way.

If you are uncomfortable allowing AI into your ecosystem them simply don't do it. If you don't know what you are doing, don't do it. If you expect miracles from AI, instead of working your way to make and understand your own automations/yaml/coding/sensors/etc, than simply don't do it...

The safest way is simply keeping everything local, no internet connection and definatly not connecting AI to it, if you are not sure or knowing what it is going to do, or what the expected results could or are going to be.

Thanks @stefan1982 but on my side it is just a trust thing, I have been a programmer for many years and have been deep into all manner of custom coding including now about to publish a new integration, so it's not an understanding thing, it is just trust! They are absolutely wonderful tools I agree but I'm not giving them the keys!
