Home Asssistant wont install with NVME on RPI5

I have been trying to get Home Assistant installed with my RPI5 running a Freenove NVME M.2 card and I cant get it to work at all… It works if i install it on a SD card but not the NVME…

I have tried everything i can think of and it will not work. it just throws errors and will not get past the waiting for CLI screen.

I have tried version 17 and 16.2 and neither of them work…

am i missing somthing i need to do with an NVME drive to get this working ??
What a pain in the ass… I know the NVME drive is fine… I can install any other OS and it works fine just not the HA …

You need to set the pi up to boot from an external drive. Load an OS on the SD card, then make the firmware changes. This is a PI function and I suggest google searching how to do that. I have not done it recently.

I already did that. every other OS I install works with the NVME drive but HA. it gets part way and starts throwing errors that it cant access things. it is 100% an NVME issue…

I even tried using some older version of the HA and they get up to the Waiting for the CLI message and then crap out as well… but if i put it on an SD card works fine.

What things can’t it access? if you want help it is far more likely to happen if you give us more info than “it didn’t work”.
