Homeassistant.update_entity service - what's its effect on HA?

I have some TP-Link switches that I want to turn on multiple lights in their respective room when toggled at the physical switch. I’ve found through another topic that I can use the ‘homeassistant.update_entity’ on just those individual switches with a 3 second interval and it works just fine. I haven’t tested setting it any lower as I’m unsure of what stress it could put on HA and my raspberry Pi 3B+.

Appreciate any info that others here may have.

What is wrong with the normal light toggle?

TP-Link switches update every 30 seconds via the integration. Too much of a delay between when I hit the physical switch and the other lights come on.
