Hi everyone. I’m building HomeBar, a native macOS menu bar app for Home Assistant. I wanted to keep a small set of favorites in the menu bar for quick checks and control. It’s still in development and I’d love feedback.
Media players (play/pause, next/prev, volume, covers)
Climate (set temperature / target range when supported)
Covers (open/close/stop)
Locks (lock/unlock)
Scenes (activate)
and Cameras! (live streaming, I am testing on my unifi devices)
If you’re interested in testing and using macOS 26+, reply here or DM me (macOS version + HA version + what domains/devices you’d like to test) and I’ll share the homebar app when I will finish last improvements.
Thank you for your suggestion! I also realized that I need some kind of grouping. I just implemented possiblity to use areas/room and list them as tabs. On the other hand, the ability to filter by status also makes sense. I’ll look into this, thanks for the comment!
I want to try, have been looking for exactly this!
But I can’t seem to get to your profile - so I can’t dm? (Sorry, new to this forum)
I’m running latest MacOS Tahoe 26.3, HA 2026.2.2, and want to try with zigbee lamps, Ikea air-purifiers
When I tried to submit the app to the App Store, I got an alert saying that the name “HomeBar” can’t be used because an app with that name already exists. I had to rename my app. The new name is “HomeGlance”, and the new domain is https://gethomeglance.com.
I also made some updates and fixes, including new icons. I prepared a short video showing the current state of the app:
