How can I have the modern UI for HA dashboard?

I’m somewhat new to home assistant. I got it installed it in a raspberry and got it up and running. However on looking at the official HA demos I see a more modern dashboard version than the one I have (Home Assistant Demo)

Mine looks like this

I investigated but couldn’t find any clear information. Is this a different HA version? does it has anything to do with the fact that I used a raspberry? or perhaps I need a Nabu Casa subscription?

Thanks for your help!

That looks like the auto generated desktop.
You can make it look however you want by custom themes/cards you can find on the forum here.

For now just use the standard cards like those used by the demo:

Are you using an auto-generated dashboard?
If yes - then “take control” and add any cards you wish.

Here is a standard Entities card:

And here are another standard cards - Heading & Tile (from that “Demo page”):

which you may use as well & get a look you like (along with a “sections” layout).

Thanks everyone!

Took me a bit to understand what you meant by take control, just saw there’s literally a button saying “Take control”. I just enabled it and will play around with cards

There are almost an infinite number of customizations that you can make on your Home Assistant dashboard. The biggest limitation is your imagination. Someone here even made his dashboard to look like the Star Trek engineering panel.. I doubt that there are any two dashboards that are the same.

I’m not sure what “modern” means to you, but I notice a lot of post here show dashboards in dark mode. That seems to be a fairly recent preference.
