How can i replace my slimmelezer with a HomeWizard P1 the "right" way?

Hello all,

Currently i have a slimmelezer recording my energy usage with ESPHome polling it data occasionally.

However, for a while, i’ve been thinking about replacing it with a P1 HomeWizard meter. But i’m afraid that it’ll change the colours and such on my energy dashboard, and/or mess up the historical statistics.

If I add the homewizard meter, and then add the two usage entities to the pre-existing ones from esphome, how will the colours look like? Will it add 2 more gradients, or will it be smart and recognise the replacement?

For that matter, how quick does the P1 energy meter update? The slimmelezer did it once a second, but i saw a “max update time” of 30 minutes in the source code, which makes me wary of the update rate.

I know this is a bit of a vanity question to ask, but I like my dashboards nice and cleanly setup, and a “break” here would annoy me for a very long time.

Heyy, it’s a while since you posted, but how did you solve this?

I just did the swap myself too, I just replaced the device at my smart meter and added the new entities, leaving the old slimmelezer entities to be. They still have their own seperate statistics, but it works okay. Only thing is that I now have an unavailable slimmelezer device with warnings stuck in my ESPHome and other overviews, but I will not delete dat because I want to keep my historical energy data to compare with.

Also my P1 meter seems to work fine with updates every 10 seconds.
