hi
i have a VM of home assistant through unraid… when i pass through the onboard Bluetooth… HA sees it… but sees it as a blank name… is there a way to force HA to add the bluetooth device even though its a blank name?
I don’t see it in the list of supported bluetooth adapters. This means that even if you did manage to get the name to be passed, you wouldn’t be able to do anything with it, sorry.
well doesnt that suck here i thought could be passed through and cuz its a bluetooth wifi that it would just work out of the box… so much for that
question do you know of a wifi bluetooth hub i guess so its wifi works wherever but connects to blue tooth devices so you dont have to have a bluetooth plugged in a rackmount case
cuz i wanna hook up a bluetooth speaker… and currently how i do it is esp32 with a idc i think its with a 1/8" jack wire from it to the input of the speaker to use aux in works good i can send audio over it… but the problem is is even though it has clean solder jobs i did it still picks up interference bad ground buzzing so i wanted to use the blue tooth features… to do the same… and thats why i was hoping would worked off the vm… but if it cant it cant
Yes, it’s called a bluetooth proxy and it’s referenced in the docs I linked to earlier.
No, there is no current support for bluetooth audio in HA.
If you have buzzing, it sounds like you have a ground loop problem. Google around on how to mitigate that. It’s a generic problem, not one limited to HA, so you should get plenty of hits if you search.

ah ok i did read about bluetooth proxie you can do with esphome but the problem there is
its not for bluetooth devices
its only for BLE devices like temperature units
but ill keep looking … i was hoping i could utilize the onboard bluetooth …
and ok ill search about that ground problem as i made a simple connector and solderd it so it sits on top of the esp32 wroom and works great minus stupid buzzing issue or pulsating sound like a quiet jackhammer going off lol
least i know i cant do what i want with the onboard
i have some shelly devices ill see if any of them have bluetooth on them from your link it shows gen 2 shellys
Let me repeat. HA does NOT support Bluetooth audio
ok i got it… ya i found work arounds how to connect bluetooth speaker with HA using volumio or squeezelite, muse, or a esp32 with squeezelite… so may go that route or fix my wifi to audio output… but least there are work arounds
What is “Bluetooth wifi”? Those are two different things. That’s akin to saying “bicycle car”.
