I bought a Philips Hue Daylo light (just a wall sconce). It has 2 seperate lights in it:
- a central backlight/ambiance light, and
- a main ring light
I’ve connected it directly to HA using Z2M (I’m not using the hue bridge). However, the light only exposes a single entity in HA which controls the inner ambiance light only, I have no control over the ring light.
I asked Gemini, it said that the 2 lights could probably be controlled individually via MQTT, but it was light on details. It said that I should look for a suitable converter for use within Zigbee2MQTT, but I wasn’t able to find anything.
So, at this stage, I think I have 2 options:
- Figure out how the light is controlled and try creating my own Z2M converter, or
- I’m thinking that using a Philips Hue Bridge will be able to control both segments of the light, and hopefully expose them to HA as 2 separate entities. Does anyone know if this is the case?
At this stage, I’m tempted to try the Hue Bridge. Are there any other options available? Does anyone know if ZHA would handle this light any better.
Sorry for the ramling post, this is just a brain dump of where I am right now. Any advice much appreciated.
