I left for work on Friday everything was great. At some point we either had a blackout or power surge so that messed up my system badly. The only recourse was to reinstall and then inject a recent backup to get me up and running again…
The ONLY problem is how… I tried to make a windows to go stick…uh…no. That didn’t work.
I tried installing Unbuntu that didn’t work…
SO here’s what I did.
I copied the unbuntu install to a USB stick and then hooked an external drive up to the NUC.
I installed Unbuntu to the external drive leaving the NUC drive wide open to do what I needed to do
I ran Etcher and reinstalled HAOS to the NUC once that was running
I copied a backup to the HA instance and then restored it.
Everything is up and running again…
The issues I encountered were:
My door lock didn’t come back to life for some reason so I ordered a new one [Zigbee of course]
One of my diguno’s is fried.
Other then that everything else was just a matter of waiting for sensors etc to update. Within in 15 minutes it [Excluding door lock and DigUno] everything was up and going great.
Moral… Intel NUC’s are great but a pain to get going again once there’s an issue.
Remember to ALWAYS keep current backups [Thank you Google Drive!] and you won’t be standing there having lost all your hard work!
I’m sure there are easier ways to do this but this came to me as an answer quickly and it worked so I’m not complaining. Thanks to Stigh for all his help, once again!
I’ve since downloaded MediCat which I will burn to a large USB Stick and supply it with a windows iso file for future issues. Saving me time!!!
