How reliable is Google Assistant with the manual setup

I’m toying with the idea of moving away from SmartThings so I can get local control

For my setup, this would require the following:

  • Zwave stick (not sure which)
  • Zigbee stick (possibly the sonoff)
  • Google Assistant

I tried the integration awhile ago and there was some feedback about it periodically dying and required setting it up again.

For those setting it up using the manual setup

How reliable has it been?

I’ve been using it for a long time after going through the manual setup struggle. I’ve not had any issues other than when IFTTT restricted the number of routines you can have on their free tier, which obviously has nothing to do with the integration.

My only gripe (other than wanting more GA functionality) is that I assumed that using the room variable on entity_config would automatically assign it to that room in GA, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
