I was looking at buying some products (Celebright holiday lighting) that is not supported by HA.
The only other products I have that aren’t HA supported are HomeKit supported.
The products are supported by Alexa and Google. So I was thinking maybe I could public a logical variable to Google/Alexa and inside Google or Alexa make an automation that when the lights are on or off they set the state of the logic variable. That would show HA when they are on or off. I could also make an automation that when Google/Alexa see the logic variable state change that it matches that state on the their party device.
I could do this because I pay for my HA account with Nabu. And that allows me to publish my HA devices to Google and Alexa.
Now I am wondering if a way exist to tell Google/Alexa to publish devices back to Nabu somehow.
If anyone has any creative ways to do this please let me know.
I also use HomeKit so if you use HomeKit to bind to your devcie you can’t then also add them to HA. But I know HA support homekit. My point now is I have some devices that only support Amazon and Google with no current HA cloud or local integration.
If your Celebright lights expose to Alexa or Google Home the cleanest way is to use Alexa integration in HA add the official Amazon Alexa integration then your Celebright lights will appear as discoverable entities in HA no custom stuff needed.failing that IFTTT works great as a bridge Avoid the two-way variable hack if possible it is fragile. Good luck
Are you saying that using the Alexa interrogation in HA makes Alexa devices show up in HA? I don’t understand. I have never seen that functionality. I have only used it to add HA devcies to Alexa.
