How to add Vimar KNX Thermostats?

Hello everyone,
I’ve asked for help some years ago regarding this, but after many frustrating hours, i gave up on integrating my KNX Thermostats from VIMAR. Because this is the last part of my house that i can’t control with home assistant, i want to persist until i get this to work. So…

My heating system is integrated in an old KNX network with actors from VIMAR, consisting of wall displays, a “central unit” and 4-way relays for controlling my heating. I have connected an IP Gateway to the KNX network and i am able to communicate with it per KNX Integration and ETS6 Demo per tunneling.I wasn’t provided with the ETS project and I don’t think that there exists one, because the VIMAR products can be programmed without ETS.

My problem is, that i can’t find the group addresses required in the KNX Integration (Climate). I converted the VIMAR adresses into KNX Group Adresses with some tool from GitHub. I than used every value and combination that I found in my Entity but i wasn’t able to get any usable result.

Here is a screenshot (i can’t post more than one, apparently). Maybe, someone can help me further.

Thanks in advance!

Here are some more screenshots:

Here, I started the ETS Group Monitor and pressed some buttons on the Kitchen Thermostat, that changed the target temperature to something higher than the current temperature, so that the Relay turns on. Than, I turned off the thermostat (changed the state to off Off).

Hi!

A few pointers / questions:

  • Did you successfully connect your KNX installation with Home Assistant?
  • Can you see the Bus info coming by?
  • I would start small, and for instance only add “on/off” to your climate.yaml file, and see if you get any information into HA
  • The addresses I see now in your yaml do not have any linkage with the other screenshots you showed me.

So start small, get small successes and then go for all the parameters.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I was starting feeling “alone” in this one and wanted to again accept defeat. This gives me hope

My KNX BUS communicates with Home Assistant over an IP Gateway. I can control my shades with it. But in that case, it is easy: only open/close and stop adresses are needed.

The “small steps” approach was also my intention: I just want to see the reported current temperature. Unfortunately, even this was not possible.

Can it be, that the displays are all sending and receiving their data from the “central unit”? (“By-me 1960”, with Group address 1.1.170… presumably)

Here is a screenshot of ETS, while i change the “KITCHEN” from ON to OFF:
