I have just got a this battery controller. Grid connected use and LiFePO4 are supplied but very badly cared for in the handbook. I have also bought the VE-bus to USB adapter.
How do I integrate this unit into HA? I had hoped for an expalnation of protocols. Not so. The inverter is in adifferent room and quite a distance from my RPi running HA. Is there a Esp8266 or Esp32 interface form USB or even VE-bus to WLAN?
I am at the beginning of the planning stage with all the wiring and setup still to do.

Do you have a GX device, i.e. Cerbo GX?
This is the device HA / an integration talks to - the Cerbo also has integrated Wifi…
As for the integration: the Victron MQTT integration - which still exists seperately via HACS - recently got integrated into HA..
This is the way i went, unsure if there are ways to go via USB or ESP32…

Ok, if you’re still - more or less - in the planning stage, why don’t you head over to the Victron Community forums and ask around there?
There are the real experts all things Victron and will help DIY installations (depending on their scale, afaik).
FWIW, Victron is a whole ecosystem of things you can mix together, supporting installations of all sizes and colors (as long as they’re Victron blue, heh) - even if your needs change later, there’s something in their portfolio.
I couldn’t be happier… (and having a dependence on one or more chinese “gadgets” less is, in my books, a positive).
