How to determine why a light turns off every night

I am just getting into home assistant, its awesome… i keep finding stuff to integrate.

I found the GE integration and pulled in my washer, dryer, oven and refrigerator. Its all great except since i integrated the refrigerator, the light turns off every night between about 12:30 and 1:30 am. EVERY NIGHT. I have no automations that call this light, and none of my other 1000+ entities have this issue.

It drives the wife nuts when she gets up to get the kids ready for school and the refrigerator is dark. I exposed it to alexa so she can ask it to turn the light on, but she is not pleased.

I can just automate it so “if off → turn on” but i would like to figure out why it is turning off in the first place (my journey to learn stuff and all…)

anyway, this is what i see in the entity. It is “turning itself off” and my wife is having alexa turn it on

Refrigerator Light turned off triggered by service Light: Turn off

How do i figure out what is turning it off?

I’ve only been into HA for weeks myself (just saying).

If you select the Refrigerator Light in the Logbook, you’ll get a dialog of the item’s controls. Select the 3 dot Menu (top/right) in that dialog, and go to Related. There you can see everything that is linked to that device (scripts, automations, etc.).

Hmmm… all that shows up is it belongs to “kitchen” area and has a bunch of related entities… no scenes, automations, scripts etc… that would change state. so strange.

Do you have hunches enabled?

Well, this might not be it. Not an Alexa user but the log entries for Google Home commands show that it was triggered by GH.

I don’t even know what hunches is…

I am going to disable voice assistant entirely for that entity and see if it happens again tonight.
