I use home assistant since 2020 but strangely enough updating to 2024.8.3 seems like using a new platform, everything has changed at the core and it’s not a matter of updating the configuration yaml files I had.
How do I get to edit the interface with my beloved ui-lovelace.yaml ?
Seems it has been hidden from the public because searching for half an hour on google yielded me only old stale questions, and the interface seems to be constantly shifting so all instructions I find have a different interface version.
some people talk about going to Settins → Dashboard → Resources but I don’t have them, others talk about three dots on the top right I don’t have.
ui-lovelace.yaml is no longer a thing. If you want to edit yaml you can go to your dashboard, hit the icon (top right) to enter edit mode, then the ⁝ icon and select “Raw configuration editor”.
The reason for this change is the dashboard configs are now stored as json instead of yaml behind the scenes
can you redirect me to where this is announced in the documentation?

the switch from json to YAML doesn’t bother me the most, the thing bothering me is migrating from a file based configuration typical of Linux software to a web UI one which is typical of Windows software.
reconfiguring each time via UI each time I setup a new home assistant installation is a no-no for me.
I think it happened about 2 years ago when lovelace changed from experimental to default? 2022.3 maybe?
You can still copy an existing/previous config to a new install rather than recreate everything by the UI.
you can still use ui-lovelace.yaml to edit your dashboard. I use it exclusively. There is no requirement to only configure the dashboards thru the UI.
the location of the file should still be in the same place that it was before. it’s located in the main config directory (the same directory as the configuration.yaml is in).
It seems you are implying that you had been using the file to configure your dashboards previously. So you are saying that file is no longer in that same location?
