How to Group Different Devices

Just moved to Home Assistant after 5 years of Hubitat headaches. I thought most things would be similar… Nope.

I’m trying to group various devices into one thing/device/entity. My problem is that they are a mixture of Lights and Switches, and you can only seem to use the helper to group devices of a similar type. For example for my lounge lighting I have Zigbee Bulbs and Zigbee Switches (controlling non smart bulbs).

I could just turn everything on and off using the Area switch on the dashboard, but I also have Zigbee Switch Sockets for heaters in the lounge, and I obviously don’t want them coming on unnecessarily.

How do I go about doing this? Should I put the Switches controlling the heaters in a different room or area?

You can use the “Change the device type of a switch” helper to give you light entities for each of your switches.
