How to install this add-on in HA Supervised?

I run HA Supervised and I want to use this add-on: GitHub - andyboeh/mediola2mqtt: Mediola MQTT Gateway

When I try to install it via Add-on Store, Repositories it says “Invalid Add-on repository!”.

What am I doing wrong?

(I’m guessing it doesn’t have the right set of files, as it’s not designed to be installed on a supervised installation. However I’m struggling to find what needs to be there for a Supervised add-on. Please be patient with me, I’m a Microsoft techie trying to get to grips with Linux  )

sorry, did you read the instalation notes?

Thanks for replying. Yes, I have read the installation notes. I can connect to the addons folder but there is nothing there, and I know that I have several addons already installed, therefore I think this is the wrong place. However just to check I’ve copied the files to addons/mediloa2mqtt as per instructions and rebooted the host, and the addon is not there.

I think because it’s running Supervised, the docker stuff works differently, and putting things in the addons folder doesn’t work. Do I need to make a version of the addon that can be installed as proper addon repository, as per this? Create an add-on repository | Home Assistant Developer Docs

That’s fine, just download the content of the repository in the addon folder as indicated in the documentation, then go to the addon store and click on check for new updates in the three points on the top edge, after that the addon should appear.
It doesn’t matter if you have a supervised installation

Oh I see!! Thank you. It is now installed.
Now to get it configured correctly …
Thanks very much.

Does installing it like this mean I have to re-download and re-copy the contents of the addons folder whenever something changes in the original source?

yes i’m afraid so
