I can query where a cover is at via the current_position attribute. Is there a way to query where cover is going when it is currently opening or closing? i.e. what it’s target position is?
You have to set the position variable when you use the set position action. So you know what it is.
Or is the cover being set from outside Home Assistant?
If so, how?
e.g. you can capture the command in a sensor if using mqtt.
Are you saying I cannot query the target position from the cover itself?
I’m writing scripts that may run when the shade may already be in motion. I’m aware I can capture and manage the target position myself, but am trying to confirm I didn’t miss something obvious before taking that in for 10 shades.
Does the cover entity have a target position attribute listed in Developer Tools → States?
