Okay, I feel silly posting this. I’m unable to remove the backplate from this Reolink doorbell. I push the release mechanism circled in red, and nothing happens. AI said to slide it off. With the release pushed in, nothing budges. The first reference to it in the users guide shows the plate already removed.
Here is a 1 step instruction. I still don’t get it! I’ve pressed the button and tried pushing, pulling, sliding, nothing. The plate and doorbell itself seem immovable when pressing the button.
I like it a lot. Prior to purchasing I had read that Reolink collaborates with Home Assistant and it shows. You have access to a lot of the doorbell functionality in HA. I got the wired one listed below, although I would shop around. Oddly the model name is “Reolink Video Doorbell WiFi”. I liked it so much I bought two Reolink Argus PT Ultra Cameras one for the front and one for the back of the house. I also bought the Reolink Home Hub since these are wireless and solar/battery powered.
Also, I wrote front door motion sensor automation that disables the doorbell and front camera when leaving the house. I also have an NFC automation that disables these devices when returning home.
