I’ve a Denon AVR-X3600H, HEOS + Airplay2 enabled, which has 2 zones. I’m trying to make those available in Music Assistant. Mostly I just want to be able to play music easily to zone 2, with a queue controlled by Music Assistant, etc. (zone 1 is primarily for my home theatre and rarely controlled by home assistant), but obviously the more seamless things are the better, and if I could do text-to-speech that would be nice.
In home assistant I have experimented with 3 things:
- Denon AVR Network Receivers Integration - and through that I have two media_player entities, one for each zone (media_player.zone_1, media_player.zone_2)
- Denon HEOS Integration - and through that I have one media_player entity (media_player.denon).
- Universal media player integration - and through that created a new media_player entity with the zone_2 as a child.
In Music Assistant, all I can see is, from the Heos player provider, a single “Denon” player.
I don’t see anything about multiple zones. And I don’t see anything in Music Assistant which seems to correspond to the two media players from “1” or the one player from “3” above. Those media_players are ignored by/incompatible with music assistant?
Can anyone clear up my confusion? What is the right way to set Music Assistant up for a 2-zone Denon/HEOS AVR? I’ve researched/read quite a lot - hence my trying with all of 1+2+3 above. But somehow all still failing…
Frankly, while flexibility is nice, I’d be happy with it statically or automatically configured to only ever play on zone 2 (although that might require some automation to change the Denon’s settings just before trying to play each time?).
