How to specify a particular Thread border router?

I have an SMLight SLZB-MR1 dongle with Thread set up on Radio 2. I am fairly sure (but not 100%) the dongle is working fine. I have installed the Open Thread Border Router Add On, and that seems to be running / working OK too.

But within the Thread Integration, whilst the OpenThread Border Router appears at the bottom of the list of options, I can’t move it to the “Preferred network”. I have no idea what the “MyHome1242277374” network is, and I have never used Thread before. The three Amazon Echo devices are not used as Thread devices, nor do I want to use them as they are in outbuildings & not convenient.

QUESTION: How can I force the Thread integration to use the OpenThread Border Router / SLBZ-MR1 as my router of choice?

TIA

I’m taking some guesses here …

  • A Thread network with name “MyHomexxxxx” is usually an Apple based Thread network. Somehow HA was told about this network but is not seeing it in discovery messages which is probably why it is showing as “No border routers found”. I think there should be a way to delete it, but to be honest, I’m not quite sure how. I guess the worse case would be to remove the integration and re-add it.
  • HA is getting advertisements from your OTBR AddON, that’s why it is showing up, but the Thread Integration is not connected to it, that’s why there are no settings made available. I suggest you remove the Thread Integration, and re-add it, where it should either auto-discover your HA OTBR, or if not it will prompt you for a URL, which you can enter as http://core-openthread-border-router:8081
