How to start a template cover helper

I set up smart relays and tilt sensors to automate my garage doors. From what I found online that I should make a template cover helper for each door (3 doors total). What do i put in the “State*” part (see below)?

I will take any advice if anyone thinks is should do something other than a template cover helper.

A template that reports the state of the tilt sensor. The reported value must be one of the four values listed in the description.

What kind of values does the tilt sensor currently report?
