How to update to new Tuya Integration withTuya devices already configured?

I am now running Home Assistant 2025.2.4. I have 3 wifi Tuya light switches configured from an older version of HA that required a Tuya cloud account with the need for $0 contract renewal every 6 months.

I’d like to know what, if anything, I must do to update to using the new Tuya integration that eliminates the need for the Tuya cloud account (and 6 month renewal).

TIA

Hello jbr439,

Have you read the HA docs for the current Tuya core Integration?
If you have any specific questions beyond this, please post them.

Just install the new integration, your devices stay configured.

OK, the wording of my last paragraph was sloppy.

What I want to know is if there is anything special that needs to be done when updating to the new, current Tuya core integration when there are existing Tuya devices configured with the old cloud account integration?
E.g.,

  • Does everything just update automagically and I’ll never again have to renew the $0 contract every 6 months?
  • Or, do I have to delete the old configuration and start from scratch?
  • Or, is there something else that needs doing (like deleting my developer cloud account (the one that requires renewal every 6 months))?

FWIW, I’ve read the official documentation and watched a number of youtube videos and tried to google an answer, but this specific scenario does not seem to be explicitly addressed.

TIA
