How to use Home Assistant widgets on Apple Watch (watchOS 26)?

Hi everyone,
I’m new to Apple Watch and I need help configuring the Home Assistant widget to run my scripts from the watch.

My setup:

  • Apple Watch Series 10 (watchOS 26)
  • Companion app on iPhone: Home Assistant Companion 2025.9.3 (2025.1423)
  • I can open the Home Assistant app on the watch and run my scripts from there.

What I did (steps I followed):

  1. On my iPhone I opened the Home Assistant app → Settings → Apple Watch → Configuration and added my script to the list of available items.
  2. On the watch I swipe up to open the widgets screen, tap “Add Widget”, find the Home Assistant app and select the “Scripts” widget.
  3. The widget appears but shows the label “Choose script” (or similar). I cannot select which script the widget should use. Tapping the widget or trying to configure it on the watch does nothing. Other entity types behave similarly.
  4. Despite this, I can still run the same script by opening the Home Assistant app on the watch (so the script itself works).

What I expect vs what happens:

  • Expected: be able to pick a specific script (or other entity) for the widget so it displays and triggers that script directly.
  • Actual: widget shows “Choose script” and there is no way to select the target entity from the watch UI.

What I’ve already tried:

  • Selecting the script in the phone app configuration (as described above).
  • Tapping the widget and trying to use the watch configuration UI (no effect).
  • Reopening the Home Assistant app on the watch (script runs fine from the app).

Questions:

  1. Is there an extra step I miss to bind a script (or another entity) to the watch widget?
  2. Are widgets on watchOS 26 handled differently (complications vs widgets) and Home Assistant requires a specific method?
  3. Are there known bugs or known minimum versions of iOS/watchOS / companion app for this to work?
  4. If anyone has screenshots of a working widget configuration or exact step-by-step instructions, that would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance — I’d appreciate any pointers or step-by-step instructions.
Best regards,

Hi. Same issue for me. I can’t figure how to configure widget on the Smart Stack on watch OS 26

I’m in the same boat. I have scripts, and they work from the phone and from HA itself.

The companion app lets me choose “Choose script,” which basically just adds a widget that says “Choose script” and does nothing.
