I use a battery card (custom:battery-state-card) to display the values.
Because I don’t spend much time on my dashboards, even more important: I want HA to work for me as much as possible.
Of course I could create automations for each device but I hope there is a smarter way.
So I wonder how the pro’s are handling battery powered devices to know whether batteries are low or even devices gone offline?
The above blueprints should get you going. However, I just updated Z2M today, & the latest version comes with a new frontend.
One of the cool things about it is that the device dashboard has a low battery column (disabled by default).
Haven’t looked into it much, but if the dashboard can easily show low battery per device, then there might be an even simpler way to flag which devices need a battery replacement.
For some devices, this info was already available in HA and apparently the ones that don’t expose this, also do not in the details of that device in Z2M…
